ITAL — Intranet, Client Portal and Website

ITAL employs 70 people in the South East, working closely with Transport Providers, Rail Passenger Groups and the Department for Transport to improve the service provided to passengers who have been issued with either a penalty fare or unpaid fare notice. As well as processing penalty fares, ITAL provides technology and support to train operating companies.

ITAL wanted to set up an intranet to improve internal communication and sharing within their growing organisation. As many employees are homeworkers, it was critical that the system was secure but reachable both from the office and on the wider internet.

The intranet is now a central point for all staff including a wealth of information on staff rosters, HR policy, the staff handbook, minutes of meetings, information and links on suppliers, information on products and tools and shared areas by customer. All of this, including the associated Office documents, is fully searchable using Firefly.NET's built in search tool.

ITAL initially started using Firefly.NET on our hosted platform to get up and running quickly. With a rapidly growing intranet, they took the system in-house in March 2009, to integrate it more fully with their network - picking up users and groups from the Active Directory. At this point, the system was also re-branded to match the new corporate web style.  Since then, ITAL have launched a new client portal with Firefly and a new web site.
