Progress Check

This type of page is designed for students to keep a record of their progress, e.g. through an online tutorial where they may sometimes forget how far they've reached from session to session. Those running the tutorial can also monitor progress through the course being followed. Beyond monitoring pupil progress, this page type has a number of other potential uses, including staff approval and signature of sections in the staff manual.

Suppose an online course, delivered via Firefly.NET pages, is divided into 5 topics. The first page of the course could contain an introduction and then would have five progress check components embedded in it, just as below:

Once each student had completed a topic, there would be a link at the bottom of the page directing them to check the box alongside the topic just completed and then to click Save Progress. When the student next opens the Progress Check page, the page will "remember" which topics have been covered and which not, e.g. Topics 1 and 2 are completed in this example:

The course supervisor can also review progress of all students by clicking the Display Report link at the top right of the page. Select the group you wish to check on in the Filter pull-down menu next. See below for an example of progress by three pupils in the SPS4 group through an online course on spreadsheets:

There is an option at the bottom of the report to export the data to Excel too, in a similar manner to that of Tests.
