What is a Forum?

A forum is a page where users can create topics called threads to which others can submit replies, or posts. Participants can either reply to the original topic post or to one of the other users'. Firefly indents replies to indicate which posts each is responding to.

To create a forum page

1. Click the Add page button,

2. Select the Forum page type,

3. Give the forum page a relevant Title (e.g Weekly class discussion),

4. Click Add page,

5. Click New thread – This should include a brief sentence on the subject the thread is about. See Figure 1 below

e.g  Any ideas on how to re organise the lesson plan for year 12 History students?

Note: New threads are always displayed at the top of the list, older threads are pushed further down the list as new ones are created.

6. Reply – Clicking Reply on a post will display a text box which allows users to submit a response. The reply will be indented to the right to indicate whether it is a response to the previous post or to the original topic. See Figure 1

7. Show all threads – Click this option to create a new thread and view previously created threads. See Figure 2.
