Workspaces

Workspaces are a feature in Firefly.NET which allows you to create temporary sections for situations such as project collaboration, a school trip, etc. Unlike normal sections, workspaces are only visible to users who are members of them, however, in almost every other respect they behave exactly like other sections in Firefly.NET.

Note : A workspace is typically used as a temporary place to store information about a project or other group topic. It is important to avoid using workspaces as a place to store information that may be of general interest, as the workspace and its entire contents may be removed at any time once the topic has been deemed closed, and thus such information would be lost.

To create a workspace, your Administrator will have had to create a workspace container (a top level section under which you can build workspaces) with the permissions set to allow you to create new workspaces.

Creating a Workspace container

Go to the Firefly.NET Tools> Site > Control Panel > Add Workspace Container.

You will then be required to give the Workspace Container a title as well as specify which individual/group is allowed to create workspaces within this container.

In this example, we've created a workspace container called "Projects". This workspace container will only appear to users who have been assigned permissions to create workspaces under this container, as visible in the top-level section menu below.

Creating a new Workspace
To create a new workspace, you would simply hover over the workspace container to open up a list of existing ones of which you are a member, and click Add workspace.

You will be presented with a dialog box asking you to specify the workspace's name as well as who will have the right to view/access it.
